Exercise
This is sometimes known as gymnastics in Chinese texts. It is a system of gentle exercise which is for the mind as well as the body. It helps the Qi (energy) to be guided by thought. Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan are the two main types.
Tai Chi Chuan is a variant of Qi Gong with the addition of various martial and longevity practices. They are rooted in shamanism from a time when masters of wind and rain, fertility and death had a pre-eminent role in society. They date back to at least the 4th century BC. They are generally considered to be inferior in their effect to meditation yet powerful in their own right.
